Where did the name Nirvana Coffee Roasters originate?
The owner and avid adventurer hiked to Mt Everest bas camp in 2019 and fell in love with the Nepalese people and the majestic Himalayas. There is a peaceful and a sense of Nirvana in Kathmandu, hence the name. "The path to enlightenment starts with a great cup of coffee"
For a traditional coffee maker, how many scoops to cups do you recommend?
We suggest 2 tbsp per 5-6oz of water, then adjusting to your taste based on preference.
What is your brew ratio for Espresso shots
We strive for a 1:2 ratio. 18 grams of ground coffee and 36 grams out liquid espresso in about 25-30 seconds. This is a baseline and you can adjust as you like.
How do you decaffeinate your decaf coffee?
Our Decaf is always 100% decaffeinated using ONLY water. Never any other process or chemicals used. We at Nirvana Coffee Roasters alternates between Swiss Water Process and Mountain Water Process, sometimes a blend of the two. This is based on quality and seasonality. Our Roastmaster, Head of Coffee, and Cupping Team work closely together every month to source and blend our Decaf Coffee ensuring only ethically sourced, consistent, and high-quality decaf coffee. Mountain Water Process is identical to the Swiss Water Process in its method. The tasting notes of our Decaf are almonds/walnut, brown sugar, and graham cracker. It is a rich, sweet cup that is almost indistinguishable from caffeinated coffee (if it is brewed correctly). This is important, usually roasters do not take the care when roasting decaf, because in their mind it is not coffee. We take great care in making sure every roast is roasted properly, and to its maximum sweetness. This also includes our Flavored Decaf Coffees.
